BROKEN ARROW, OK - Chandler Engineering, a leader in pipeline, drilling and completion products, has introduced the world’s first viscometer designed to measure the rheological properties of drilling fluids under Extreme High Pressure and High Temperature (XHPHT) conditions--temperatures up to 600 F (316 C) and pressures up to 40,000 psig (2758 bar).

The viscometer is the result of a joint development effort between Chandler Engineering and Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids and is one of a suite of highly specialized instruments designed to support oil and gas exploration. It was developed to provide viscometer profiles at temperatures and pressures beyond the capabilities of currently available equipment. The profiles are used in hydraulic modeling for ultra-deep gas projects currently under way on several Gulf of Mexico shelf wells.

Baker Hughes (Houston, Texas) is a leading provider of drilling, formation evaluation, completion and production products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry. Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids specializes in advanced drilling fluids and systems.

Chandler Engineering focuses on upstream markets in oil and gas exploration and production. Its products are used for well production, production enhancement, reservoir development and pipeline transmission. Its products include oilfield cement analyzers, viscometers, phase behavior instruments, formation testers, natural gas chromatographs, densitometers, gravitometers and moisture analyzers.

Chandler Engineering is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electric motors with annualized sales of more than $1.4 billion. For more information visit
