NEWARK, DE - Whether it’s used to characterize the dew point of gas from a newly drilled well or from an offshore production platform, the Chanscope II from AMETEK Process Instruments offers significant advantages over other manual dew point testers.

Operators and technicians who use the standard Bureau of Mines Dew Point Tester for determining dew point often find it difficult to use. Its mirror isn’t easy to view in daylight and nearly impossible at night. The standard tester also requires the user to take his or her sight off the mirror to determine the current mirror temperature and its rate of decrease.

The Chandler Engineering™ Chanscope II™ from AMETEK Process Instruments is designed to be very user friendly. It measures dew point of sample gas through the use of a chilled mirror, as required by ASTM D1142, but the mirror is directly illuminated making it much easier to see the dew formation and identify the type of dew on the mirror.

In addition, the temperature of the mirror is displayed above the mirror itself electronically thereby making it much easier to identify the exact temperature at which the dew forms. The Chanscope’s temperature sensor also operates over the full range of possible dew points, eliminating the need to have multiple testers of varying dew point ranges.
